Participants will work on techniques which will enhance their ability to turn any text to Spoken Melodies. Session will focus on articulation, projection, imagery, alliteration and rhyme schemes.
- Ages: 11-19 / Grades 7-12
- Skill/experience level: Open
- Materials: None. However, students should know by heart at least one verse from a poem, song or rap lyric. The more they know, the easier to understand and learn the technical aspects of poetry/theater. There is an example haiku (PDF and audio recording) below.

Students do not need to be registered for the New Jersey Youth Poet Laureate competition to participate. Participation will not affect student success in the competition.Register Online
