In conjunction with our Arts and Education Lab, we are excited to introduce the Production Assistant Training (PAT) initiative-a transformative workforce development program aimed at preparing Newark’s
residents for success in New Jersey’s burgeoning film and television production sector. Through PAT,
participants wil receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience, acquiring essential skills such as set etiquette, production logistics, and equipment handling. This initiative not only opens doors to new career pathways but also strengthens our community by fostering local talent and contributing to
the cultural and economic vitality of Newark. Join us in empowering the next generation of filmmakers and production professionals!

Scenic Training Lyvan Munlyn

Course Overview

This course equips you with the tools to transform ideas into captivating visual worlds. You will explore the art of creating stage and film environments hands-on by learning the fundamentals of several techniques including drafting, scale model-building, and rendering.

Audio Training Frank Brown

Course Overview-

This course delves into the intricacies of audio systems in theaters, covering aspects such as cable management, equipment maintenance, and operation both onstage and offstage. It also elucidates the roles of the audio engineer and assistant, highlighting their significance and distinctions, along with a focus on understanding various musical instruments.

Lighting Training Rachel Harris

Course Overview-

This course equips students with the essential knowledge required to effectively contribute as proficient entry-level members of a lighting installation team. Students will gain insight into the intricacies of lighting operations across diverse settings such as live theater, special events, fashion shows, television studios, and film production sets.

Film Training Nicole L. Thompson

Course Overview-

This course strives to inspire, educate, and motivate the next generation of filmmakers by providing a pathway for Newark residents to be trained to enter the Film and TV industry. Through a series of 4 Production Assistant Bootcamp trainings, we will empower 120 residents to enter the workforce.
