The First Stage Ensemble at Newark Symphony Hall’s Arts and Education Lab is a youth program for young instrumentalists and vocalists to develop their musical talents. Directed by acclaimed conductor and producer Igmar Thomas, the ensemble provides professional-level training, creative mentorship, and performance opportunities. Under Thomas’s leadership, participants receive guidance to reach their artistic potential while engaging with the Newark arts community. The program culminates in a final performance, showcasing the growth and achievements of the young artists.

He plays an important role in the Young Adults Entertainment Business Program, where he mentors aspiring artists, providing them with invaluable insights into the industry. His experience and passion for nurturing talent have made him a respected figure in both the creative and educational aspects of the entertainment world.



Young Adults Entertainment Business Program
This 6-week program provides aspiring filmmakers and TV professionals with essential knowledge and practical strategies to break into the industry. Participants will learn about key roles, networking, industry expectations, and how to build a strong portfolio or resume through expert-led sessions and hands-on exercises. By the end of the program, attendees will have a clear action plan, valuable industry connections, and the confidence to pursue opportunities in film and television. Applicants must be 17 and older.
